Hiring Mode…In Affect!

It’s that time of year again when the graduation events are piling up, the need for employees is HIGH and the actual employee head count is LOW. This has typically been a stressful time of year for me, but I’ve decided this year it is going to be a calmer process. Truthfully, I’m not altogether sure how or why that is, but it just is.

I need people to help doing airbrush tattoos, run a photo booth, assist the green screen and Boogie Heads operators, run SocialMeNow, the Cash Cube and the Big Chair photos.

June 7 I need 16 people working, and I currently have 8 and two fillers. June 14 I need 13 people working, and I still only have 8.

If anyone knows of someone responsible who could work the grad nights (which are early evening to early morning in some cases) please pass along my info below and let’s see if this really is going to be easier this year!

By the way, I pay cash….

Bebe Holiday Party 12-20-12

The holiday party at Bebe headquarters yesterday was lots of fun. I think the best part for me was seeing everyone getting along and interacting and having FUN with each other. They photo-bombed each other in the photo booth and I saw LOTS of people running around with airbrush tattoos.

Jeni was worried the tattoos would not be a hit because there were no children and no alcohol, but I assured her the tattoos would be a smash hit. And yes, they were!

Big Chair Photos in the house!

Rachel had her Bat Mitzvah last October, and her father had called to ask about our Big Chair. We talked for a little bit about the mitzvah to determine what other types of entertainment they were having that night, and together we devised a great plan.

So, the plan for this event was to have the Big Chair up on a stage in the room that had a curtain in front. We decided to put the chair onstage and close the curtain. They roped off the stage and stairs so nobody could get up there and ruin the fun.

The plan was to have Rachel enter the hall like any other bat mitzvah, then, a little later in the event they slipped Rachel onstage from a back entrance. She climbed up onto the Big Chair and the DJ announced a big surprise and asked everyone to gather around the front of the stage. Once everyone was quiet and in place they pulled back the curtain to music and revealed Rachel sitting in the Big Chair with her crown on!

Everyone took pictures of Rachel and then spent the rest of the evening dressing up in goofy props and having their pictures taken.

HOW FUN IS THAT? I know, I know!

Big Chair: Onstage

Rachel is having her Bat Mitzvah next October, and her father called today to ask about our Big Chair.

So, what the plan for this event is there is a stage in the room and they are going to put the chair onstage and close the curtain. They will rope off the stage and stairs so nobody gets up there and ruins the fun. Later in the event they are going to slip Rachel onstage where she will sit in the Big Chair and they will pull the curtain back to reveal Rachel! HOW FUN IS THAT? I know, I know!

The History and Religious Significance of the Bar & Bat Mitzvah

I found this article on another websiteand thought I should revisit it here. This is great information as I was wrong about its significance for so long:

In Judaism, Bar Mitzvah (Hebrew: “one (m.) to whom the commandments apply”), Bat Mitzvah (“one (f.) to whom the commandments apply;” Ashkenazi: Bas Mitzvah), and B’nei Mitzvah (pl.), are the terms to describe the coming of age of a Jewish boy or girl. According to Jewish law, when Jewish children reach the age of majority (generally thirteen years for boys and twelve for girls) they become responsible for their actions, and “become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.” In many Conservative and Reform synagogues, girls celebrate their Bat Mitzvahs at age 13, along with boys. This also coincides with physical puberty. Prior to this, the child’s parents are responsible for the child’s adherence to Jewish law and tradition, and after this age, children bear their own responsibility for Jewish ritual law, tradition, and ethics and are privileged to participate in all areas of Jewish community life. It is a common misconception that the Bar Mitzvah ceremony causes a change in status from youth to adulthood. In fact, the rights and responsibilities vest solely because of age, and the Bar Mitzvah ceremony is typically an ordinary Sabbath service in which the boy or girl participates for the first time as an adult. Although the term “Bar Mitzvah” is commonly, even among Jews, used to refer to the ceremony, it actually refers to the boy or girl who has come of age.

In modern Jewish observance, the occasion of becoming a Bar Mitzvah or (in non-Orthodox congregations) a Bat Mitzvah is usually associated with the young man or woman being called to read the Torah and/or Haftarah portion at a Shabbat or other service, and may also involve them giving a d’var Torah including a discussion of that week’s Torah portion. Precisely what the Bar/Bat Mitzvah may do during the service varies in Judaism’s different denominations, and can also depend on the specific practices of various congregations. Regardless of the nature of the celebration, males become entirely culpable and responsible for following Jewish law once they reach the age of 13, and females once they reach the age of 12.

The public celebration of a girl becoming Bat Mitzvah in other ways has made strong inroads in Modern Orthodox Judaism and in some elements of Haredi Judaism. In these congregations women do not read from the Torah or lead prayer services but occasionally they will lecture on a Jewish topic to mark their coming of age, learn a book of Tanakh, recite the verses from other texts (such as the Book of Esther or the Book of Psalms) or prayers from the siddur. New Green Screen Background Pt. 2

This is the second background my friend made for me. I like this because it is election year and we need this type of stuff for clients. I have him making more backgrounds and I think everyone will love them.

New Green Screen Background Pt. 1

This is a brand new green screen background template a friend just made for me. It is really cool and I’m sure my clients will love it. The green screen photos is really taking off and the 3D seems to be leading the pack.

Why We Love Entertainment!

We have been doing tattoos for 7 years now and just last year added the photo booths. What a great decision that was. I was a little nervous at first spending so much on them, but what the heck, right?

This year we added the Boogie Heads, Big Chair and green screen. So far, the Boogie Heads is slow motion but that will change once I do my first bar/bat mitzvah. I’m thinking of doing the BH free this month at a bat mitzvah I have booked. There will be about 150 kids so this will be the perfect venue for all of them to see it. I think that will make or break it. Either way, I’m also thinking of doing the Boogie Heads at fairs this year because it is lots of fun and the people get a DVDd as soon as they finish. Big FUN!

The Big Chair has been a hit too but I’m not booking it outdoors just yet. Too many weather variables so unless clients are using it indoor I’m holding out. We did a promo with Nestle Nesquik where they rented the chair and then covered it in blue material and put the bunny up on it.

The green screen is a definite hit. Not only that, but it is FUN to do at the parties. I don’t go to parties any more unless I HAVE to, but I do all the green screen parties because I have lots of fun.

Bringing these new services on board has enabled me to change my company name of present myself as an ‘entertainment’ company. This in itself has brought new business from a different class of clients. We are constantly on the lookout for new things to add but I am trying to stay only with services that are interactive and offer the guests a ‘party favor’ when they leave.
