The addition of new services can certainly provide extra revenue while the more important aspect is WHAT to add. We all want to earn a little bit more, but we need to make sure what we are doing is going to pay off in the end. A good example are bounce houses. Everybody wants a bounce house at their kids party and I see the guys out delivering and picking them up all day long when the weather is good. I would think that I could add some blowups to my business and make some extra cash too. This sounds great, but after looking into the industry I found that there are far too many people offering bounce houses is my area. And I mean in my entire area. This market is saturated so I move on from it.

In Judaism, Bar Mitzvah (Hebrew: “one (m.) to whom the commandments apply”), Bat Mitzvah (“one (f.) to whom the commandments apply;” Ashkenazi: Bas Mitzvah), and B’nei Mitzvah (pl.), are the terms to describe the coming of age of a Jewish boy or girl. According to Jewish law, when Jewish children reach the age of majority (generally thirteen years for boys and twelve for girls) they become responsible for their actions, and “become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.” In many Conservative and Reform synagogues, girls celebrate their Bat Mitzvahs at age 13, along with boys. This also coincides with physical puberty. Prior to this, the child’s parents are responsible for the child’s adherence to Jewish law and tradition, and after this age, children bear their own responsibility for Jewish ritual law, tradition, and ethics and are privileged to participate in all areas of Jewish community life. It is a common misconception that the Bar Mitzvah ceremony causes a change in status from youth to adulthood. In fact, the rights and responsibilities vest solely because of age, and the Bar Mitzvah ceremony is typically an ordinary Sabbath service in which the boy or girl participates for the first time as an adult. Although the term “Bar Mitzvah” is commonly, even among Jews, used to refer to the ceremony, it actually refers to the boy or girl who has come of age.

In modern Jewish observance, the occasion of becoming a Bar Mitzvah or (in non-Orthodox congregations) a Bat Mitzvah is usually associated with the young man or woman being called to read the Torah and/or Haftarah portion at a Shabbat or other service, and may also involve them giving a d’var Torah including a discussion of that week’s Torah portion. Precisely what the Bar/Bat Mitzvah may do during the service varies in Judaism’s different denominations, and can also depend on the specific practices of various congregations. Regardless of the nature of the celebration, males become entirely culpable and responsible for following Jewish law once they reach the age of 13, and females once they reach the age of 12.

The public celebration of a girl becoming Bat Mitzvah in other ways has made strong inroads in Modern Orthodox Judaism and in some elements of Haredi Judaism. In these congregations women do not read from the Torah or lead prayer services but occasionally they will lecture on a Jewish topic to mark their coming of age, learn a book of Tanakh, recite the verses from other texts (such as the Book of Esther or the Book of Psalms) or prayers from the siddur. This is the second background my friend made for me. I like this because it is election year and we need this type of stuff for clients. I have him making more backgrounds and I think everyone will love them.

This is a brand new green screen background template a friend just made for me. It is really cool and I’m sure my clients will love it. The green screen photos is really taking off and the 3D seems to be leading the pack.

This year we added the Boogie Heads, Big Chair and green screen. So far, the Boogie Heads is slow motion but that will change once I do my first bar/bat mitzvah. I’m thinking of doing the BH free this month at a bat mitzvah I have booked. There will be about 150 kids so this will be the perfect venue for all of them to see it. I think that will make or break it. Either way, I’m also thinking of doing the Boogie Heads at fairs this year because it is lots of fun and the people get a DVDd as soon as they finish. Big FUN!

The Big Chair has been a hit too but I’m not booking it outdoors just yet. Too many weather variables so unless clients are using it indoor I’m holding out. We did a promo with Nestle Nesquik where they rented the chair and then covered it in blue material and put the bunny up on it.

The green screen is a definite hit. Not only that, but it is FUN to do at the parties. I don’t go to parties any more unless I HAVE to, but I do all the green screen parties because I have lots of fun.

Bringing these new services on board has enabled me to change my company name of present myself as an ‘entertainment’ company. This in itself has brought new business from a different class of clients. We are constantly on the lookout for new things to add but I am trying to stay only with services that are interactive and offer the guests a ‘party favor’ when they leave.

The first tip is to take a few hours one day, go outside when the sun is up and see how shadows fall. When doing a tattoo you have to highlight it, which basically means putting shadows in the appropriate area. This method creates depth and makes the tattoo come to life.

The second tip is to lay down a think coat of white paint. Next, use your colors to highlight the tattoo. This creates the shadows you are looking for to give the tattoo shape and dimension.
